Aer Lingus welcomes Irish Airline Pilots' Association's acceptance of the tribunal recommendations

Aer Lingus welcomed (15-Jan-2010) Irish Airline Pilots' Association's (IALPA) acceptance of the tribunal recommendations of EUR30 million in annual reductions in pay. The carrier has already invited IALPA to immediate talks on the final elements of arbitration, with a view to reaching an agreement on 21-Jan-2010, as set out in the arbitration document. Aer Lingus stated the arbitration finding is "balanced and thoughtful", with the redundancy recommendation, pay and allowance cuts, pension changes and pay freeze to all be part of one integrated package, "which must be implemented in full along with changes in work rules", according to the airline.
