Aer Lingus revenue down 11%, losses widen in 2009

Aer Lingus revenue down 11% - financial/traffic highlights for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-2009:

  • Revenue: EUR1,206 million, -11.0% year-on-year;
    • Ancillary: 173.9 million, +16.2%;
  • Operating costs: EUR1,287 million, -6.4%;
    • Fuel: EUR331.7 million, -17.3%;
    • Labour: EUR312.2 million, -6.6%;
  • Operating profit (loss) before exceptional items*: (EUR81.0 million), compared to a loss of EUR20 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Profit (loss) before tax: (EUR154.8 million), compared to a loss of EUR122.1 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Profit (loss) after tax: (EUR130.1 million), compared to a loss of EUR109.9 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Passenger numbers: 10.4 million, +3.8%;
  • Passenger load factor: 74.5%, +1.7 ppt;
  • Average fare yield: EUR95.62, -16.8%;
    • Short-haul: EUR77.10, -12.0%;
    • Long-haul: 255.70, -15.9%;
  • Revenue per passenger: EUR112.37, -13.5%;
  • Ancillary revenue per passenger: EUR16.75, +11.9%;
  • Revenue per RPK**:
    • Short-haul: EUR 7.20 cents, -14.3%;
    • Long-haul: EUR 4.70 cents, -12.2%. [more]
