Aer Lingus launches internal inquiry over redundancy tax bill

Aer Lingus announced it has launched an internal inquiry into how its controversial "leave and return" scheme for staff left it with a EUR32.5 million tax bill (Irish Independent, 25-Feb-2011). Management believes former senior executives did not seek sufficient legal and tax advice before launching the scheme. Deloitte and solicitors McCann Fitzgerald are carrying out the investigation.
