Aer Lingus 2009 losses widen to EUR66.2 million

Aer Lingus reports (09-Mar-2010) 2009 results updates:

  • Total revenue: EUR1,206 million, -11.0% year-on-year;
    • Fare revenue: EUR992.7 million, -13.6%;
    • Ancillary: EUR173.9 million, +16.2%;
  • Total operating costs: EUR1,287 million, +6.4%;
  • Operating profit (loss): (EUR81.0 million), compared to a loss of EUR20 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Net profit (loss): (EUR66.2 million), compared to a profit of EUR18.8 million in the previous corresponding period;
  • Passenger numbers: 10.4 million, +3.8%;
    • Short-haul: 9.3 million, +6.5%;
    • Long-haul: 1.1 million, -14.8%;
  • Load factor: 74.5%, +1.7 ppt;
    • Short-haul: 75.4%, +1.5 ppt;
    • Long-haul: 73.1%, +1.7 ppt;
  • Average fare: -16.8%;
    • Short-haul: EUR77.10, -12.0%;
