Aena Aeropuertos announces three month delay for Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat sales

Aena Aeropuertos (AENA) president Juan Lema proposed (13-Oct-2011) a delay/extension of three months, from 31-Oct-2011 until 31-Jan-2012, for the deadline of the submission of tender offers for 90.05% of Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat airports. All other conditions, both economic and technical, remain as given in the tender documents already published, AENA said. The reason for the extension of time is the request by the companies participating in the competition due to difficulties raising the required funding. AENA president Juan Lema will formally submit the delay to the AENA board on Monday, the company said. There are seven bidding consortiums for the sale, which is expected to have a combined sale value of EUR5.3 billion. The privatisation process is expected to be completed a month after bids are submitted. [more - original PR - Spanish]
