ACCC investigates Sydney Airport

Australia's government has brought forward a review of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's (ACCC) airport investigation policies and process (Australian Financial Review, 04-Feb-2011). The government has brought forward the review after concerns were raised about high aeronautical and parking charges at Sydney Airport. Parking accounts for 10% of Sydney Airport's revenue. The ACCC is reportedly investigating whether Sydney Airport has abused of its market power, but analysts have downplayed the issue, stating Sydney's dominance of Australian aviation is waning as Melbourne and Brisbane gain importance.
