10 airlines to join UN carbon offset programme: IATA

IATA expects 10 airlines to joint the United Nations' Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in 2011 (Reuters, 07-May-2011). Under the CDM scheme, firms investing in development projects receive certified emissions reduction credits as carbon offsets. Last week, Kenya Airways became the first African carrier to join the scheme.
