Why are the fare options changing?
We've heard from our customers and understand that you have different travel styles and priorities. For instance, some don't have a seating preference-they just want a seat and they want it for the lowest possible price. Others are traveling with kids, or other family or friends, and want to be sure they're seated together. Some want the freedom to change or cancel their trip without fees, while others don't need that flexibility. Some want to be the first to board and snag that overhead bin, while others are traveling light and don't mind sashaying onto the plane just before final boarding call.
Our new fare options recognize that one size does not fit all, and give you the chance to choose what's important to you. No matter which fare you choose, you won't be giving up the JetBlue experience you know and love. All fares-even Blue Basic-still come with the most legroom in coach, free wi-fi and entertainment (including DIRECTV® and movies), free brand-name snacks + drinks, and award-winning service from award-winningly nice humans. And you still get to bring one personal item and one full-sized carry-on bag (space permitting) at no extra charge.
What's changing with the new fare options?
The biggest change is the introduction of Blue Basic fares, which gives you our lowest price while still making you feel at home with the JetBlue experience you know and love.
That said, Blue Basic fares may not be the right option for everyone. Here's why:
- There's a fee for selecting your seats more than 24 hours prior to departure (or you can choose from remaining core seats starting 24 hours before departure for free). Families or those who want to be sure they're sitting together may find our Blue fare a better value.
- You'll board with one of the last boarding groups. (Unless you have Mosaic status or purchase an Even More® Space seat.)
- Changes and cancellations are not allowed. (Even if you have Mosaic status.)
- You'll earn 1 TrueBlue point per dollar spent-or 2 points if you booked on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.
Blue fares remain our best value, with free advance seat selection, general boarding and the ability to change or cancel your flight (for a fee).
Blue Plus still includes one free checked bag.
Blue Flex will be replaced by Blue Extra, which still offers the most flexibility of all our fares, with no fee for changes or cancellations. Blue Extra does not include free checked bags, unless you are Mosaic or a JetBlue Plus cardmember.
Our TrueBlue points earning structure is also changing. Bookings made on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app will earn 3 bonus points per eligible dollar for Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra and Mint fares, and 1 bonus point per eligible dollar on Blue Basic fares.
