BNE Auto Mall - the story behind the new wave automotive desitination

BNE Auto Mall is due to have flags waving and auto dealers trading by 2021, and when Stage 1 opens this multi-purpose, auto retailing centre opens, customers will have the unique opportunity to test drive their new vehicle purchases on a Mark Skaife and iEDM designed performance track.

Even better, this track is being considered for Confederation of Australian Motor Sports (CAMS) certification, further adding to this key attraction for not only potential car buyers but motorsports enthusiasts around Australia.

"Having the ability to test drive a new vehicle around a performance track is such a unique concept and will be an asset to any dealership at Auto Mall," explains George Delibaltas, Head of Property Development at BNE Property.

"This will be the benchmark in Australia for a safe test drive experience and will truly cater for a first drive P-plater through to a CAMS licence holder in a Ferrari or Porsche."

The $300 million automotive precinct will include dealerships, manufacturers and retail amenities. It will also service and sit alongside exhibition and conference facilities, hotels, event areas and driver training schools, which are all conveniently located next to the BNE International Terminal.

The original concept for the BNE Auto Mall came out of a team strategy workshop back in 2014, it has grown to become a great addition to the BNE Property portfolio.

"All industry feedback to date has confirmed that Brisbane Airport is the perfect location for a precinct like this because of its size, flexibility and central location just 10km from the CBD," states Mr Delibaltas.

Currently, the 51.3-hectare site is undergoing $85 million of earthworks with some of the fill coming from the Queen's Wharf project. In fact, approximately 700,000m2 of fill in total was used for landfill, 15% from Queen's Wharf, which is the equivalent of 90 Australian Rules football ball fields.

When completed, a filled and serviced site of 38 hectares of improved land will be divided into 27 lots for development. Mr Delibaltas is clear to state BNE Auto Mall will be more than a place to only buy vehicles.

"The BNE Auto Mall is actually a flagship auto retailing hub that will sit alongside brand experience centres, exhibition facilities and associated retail, all located around the Mark Skaife-designed test track, which is an Australian-first and one we are proud to be a part of," he said.
