The State Government, through Tourism WA, has signed a $1.2 million co-operative marketing agreement with Jetstar, which is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Western Australia.

  • Two-year partnership to market Western Australia to the Eastern States
  • Aim to increase awareness of WA and visitor numbers to the State
  • Major boost for WA's tourism industry

The deal with Jetstar aims to help increase awareness of WA as a holiday destination and stimulate interstate visitation, with the State being promoted on the East Coast through joint advertising.

Previous marketing agreements with Jetstar have proven to be successful, delivering a significant return on investment for the State Government.

With a contribution of $600,000 from each party over two years, the marketing activity will include two major campaign periods per year.

The two-year agreement establishes the State Government's commitment to promoting WA to interstate visitors, which forms part of Tourism WA's Two-Year Action Plan.

The agreement will support Tourism WA's existing domestic brand campaigns, building on awareness of WA as a holiday destination and converting that into people booking trips through attractive travel offers.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said the partnership with Jetstar helped address the perception that it was expensive to fly to WA from other parts of Australia.

Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

"The agreement with Jetstar is important because it promotes low-cost fares to WA as well as the extraordinary experiences visitors can enjoy during their holidays.

"This new agreement cements our joint efforts and commitment to sell WA as a holiday destination.

"Marketing agreements with airlines are a critical part of the State Government's Two-Year Action Plan to grow the tourism industry in WA.

"Previous marketing activities with Jetstar have generated thousands of additional passengers into WA from the East Coast, boosting our tourism economy by millions of dollars.

"We look forward to working with Jetstar over the next two years to achieve another great outcome."
