Update on flying conditions and Virgin Australia operations

Virgin Australia continues to closely monitor the volcanic activity at Mt Agung in Denpasar. The safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority and our team of meteorologists continue to monitor the situation in consultation with the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre. Denpasar Airport remains open.

Virgin Australia plans to operate today's scheduled services from Denpasar, subject to a review of flying conditions this morning.

As this situation remains unstable, flights may be cancelled at short notice if conditions deteriorate.

Please be advised that due to the ongoing eruption of Mt Agung in Bali and the uncertainty surrounding flying conditions, Virgin Australia is not flying guests into Bali at present. As a result, flights from Australia are cancelled today. Please note, for those that have had flights cancelled, the flight number associated with your booking will still be visible on our flight status page as we are needing to ferry the aircraft over to Bali to operate recovery flights while conditions permit.

Advice for guests in Bali

Guests who were first impacted and those who require immediate assistance will be contacted first to arrange their return flight. Please do not proceed to the airport without a confirmed booking on a recovery flight.

Guests are reminded that flying conditions can change quickly and may result in cancellations at short notice.

We encourage guests booked via travel agents or third parties to speak to their booking agent directly about their booking and to ensure Virgin Australia has your mobile number, should we need to contact you.

Please continue to check the flight status page virg.in/vaflightstatus for the most up to date information about your Bali flight.

Guests with travel insurance are encouraged to check with their insurer about their individual circumstances.
