Vietnam Airlines: Business Outcomes of the first 9 months of 2016

12-Oct-2016 Vietnam Airlines JSC. would like to announce our business outcomes of the first 9 months of 2016 as follows:

In the first 9 months of 2016, Vietnam Airlines JSC. operated more than 106,000 safe flights, an increase of 10.5% over the same period with 14.9 million passengers, an increase of 16.4% over the same period, in which 23% increase was recorded on domestic routes. The total freight volume reached 193 thousand tons, an increase of nearly 21%.

Total consolidated revenues were estimated at more than 52.5 trillion VND, an increase of 6% over the same period. Profit before tax was estimated at 2,600 billion VND. The parent company was estimated to reach 43 trillion VND in revenue and 1,735 billion VND in profit, a 4-fold increase compared to the same period, exceeding the 2016 target by 10.6%. Vietnam Airlines contributed nearly 3,900 billion VND to the state budget, an increase of 24% over the same period.

Along with the above achievements, Vietnam Airlines JSC. received and successfully put into operation 4 Airbus A350s and 8 Boeing 787s during the first year (in a total of 14 A350s and 19 Boeing 787s which are gradually delivered from mid-2015 to early 2019). These modern next-generation aircrafts are fully operated and mastered by Vietnamese pilots, engineers and instructors. The 4-star service recognized by Skytrax on July 12th made passengers satisfied in all categories. Progress was made in business restructuring and equitization with the official joining of ANA Holdings as strategic shareholder. These positive results were attributable to Vietnam Airlines' efforts in making groundbreaking developments, in seizing every opportunity to improve its business efficiency.

In the last 3 months of 2016, Vietnam Airlines JSC. will mobilize resources to ensure the absolute safety and security of its operation, especially to provide better service during the peak period of the year end. Closer collaboration will be fostered with its strategic partner ANA as well as other members in the SkyTeam Alliance to introduce to the market attractive products and services of 4-5 star quality, meeting the increasing demand of our passengers.
