Vienna Airport financials
Not only the general economic environment but also the conditions for
the aviation industry remained challenging during the second quarter of
2009. In comparison with the first half of 2008 - which was characterised
by strong growth - passenger volume fell by a total of 12.7% for the first
six months after a decline of 14.8% in the first quarter of 2009. Vienna
International Airport handled a total of 8,432,872 passengers during the
reporting period, which represents a decline of only 1.5% compared with
the first half of 2007. Maximum take-off weight fell by 9.8% in comparison
with the first six months of the prior year to 3,494,293 tonnes, and flight
movements declined 10.4%. Cargo, including trucking, was 19.0% lower
at 106,298 tonnes.
