11-Dec-2017 The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Felicia Mariani as its new Chief Executive, starting in the role in mid-January 2018.

Ms Mariani brings to VTIC extensive experience across the public, private and Not-For-Profit sectors, most recently leading The Good Food Foundation and Jamie's Ministry of Food.

Other experience includes executive and senior management roles in Tourism Victoria, Managing Director of the Australian Tourism Export Council and former CEO of Tourism Tasmania.

Victoria Tourism Industry Council Chair Charles Davidson said Ms Mariani's impressive background working towards policy outcomes, industry advocacy and government relations would position VTIC well for the 2018 State Election, as tourism and the visitor economy continues to be a key area of focus.

"Felicia has a varied background in tourism in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, with proven experience of strong stakeholder management, marketing and brand building outcomes and a deep understanding of policy, advocacy and government relations," Mr Davidson said.

"VTIC is very excited to have secured such a committed and passionate Chief Executive to take the helm as we enter an election year, and I am sure Felicia will provide great leadership as our advocacy campaign gets underway.

"The tourism sector accounts for more than 210,000 jobs now and is estimated to reach 320,000 by 2024/25, so VTIC has a vital role as the collective voice representing the industry and advocating on its behalf."

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said Ms Mariani came to VTIC with an excellent reputation in Government, private and Not-For-Profit organisations.

"VTIC is the voice of thousands of tourism operators and businesses in Victoria and I have no doubt Felicia will make a significant impact as she takes on this important role representing the industry," Mr Stone said.

"I also thank outgoing Chief Executive Brad Ostermeyer for his work at VTIC in the past year, securing some significant advocacy achievements including, among others, continued funding for Visit Victoria marketing activities and a commitment to improving facilities at the Shipwreck Coast in Victoria."
