Victoria celebrates 34 million passengers for Melbourne Airport

It is the first time Melbourne Airport has reached 34 million passengers in a 12 month period, with the additional one million passengers visiting in the last seven months.

In July, total international passengers grew by an astonishing 12.4 per cent compared to the same time last year, reaching 870,715.

South East Asia again led Melbourne Airport's growth in July with passenger increases from all markets in the region led by Singapore (+41.6%), India (+25.2%), Indonesia (+18.6%) and Malaysia (+18.4%).

China continued strong growth (+20.2%) driven by an increase in capacity, which included the start of Xiamen Air's twice weekly service on 1 July.

Other strong performing markets included Hong Kong (+26.4), Germany (+18.9), USA (+11.3%), France (+9.7%) and UK (+8.2%).

In the domestic market, 2,184,330 passengers passed through Melbourne Airport's three domestic terminals, representing an increase of 1.4 per cent on July 2015.
