Update on the Singapore-Hong Kong Air Travel Bubble

1. The launch of the Singapore-Hong Kong Air Travel Bubble (ATB), originally planned for 26 May, was deferred by mutual agreement between Minister for Transport Mr S Iswaran and Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr Edward Yau due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in Singapore.

2. Since then, the COVID-19 situation in Singapore has improved, with the number of community cases and local unlinked COVID-19 cases showing a downward trend. Hong Kong's COVID-19 situation continues to remain stable, with very few community cases over the past few weeks.

3. Both Singapore and Hong Kong remain strongly committed to launching the ATB safely. We will continue to monitor the public health situation in both places closely. Both Minister Iswaran and Secretary Yau have maintained close contact and agreed that both sides would review the situation in early July, before making a decision on the target launch dates of the ATB flights. An update will be provided at that point.
