Travel Advisory : Thai AirAsia X (XJ) Temporarily Suspends Bangkok-Sydney Route

Thai AirAsia X (XJ) will temporarily suspend services between Sydney and Bangkok effective 1 August 2024 - 30 November 2024 as part of its fleet management and operation hub movement. The airline will resume these services in December 2024 with additional flight frequencies and better connectivity to key onward destinations in the AirAsia Group network, which will be updated in the near future.

Thai AirAsia X remains committed to the Australia market. While this decision to suspend services temporarily is not taken lightly, the aim is to return again soon with an enhanced schedule and experience to better meet our guest demands for the best value fares to and from Australia.

In its commitment to minimise inconveniences to all affected valued guests, the airline will automatically reroute the affected bookings to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with flights (operated by AirAsia X Malaysia, airline code D7).

The airline also offers the following service recovery options for those who wish to alter their travel plans:

1.Free Change Flight: One time flight change to a new travel date of your choice within 6 months from the original scheduled departure date on the same route without any additional cost subject to seat availability.

2. Credit Account: Retain the value of your booking with 10% topped up in a Credit Account linked with your AirAsia member account for future travel with AirAsia. A valid AirAsia Move member account is mandatory for Credit Account option and it can be redeemed within 2 calendar years from the date of issue; OR

3. Full refund: Obtain a full refund in the amount equivalent to the original booking.

Affected guests will be notified directly via their registered member email account, as well as via an SMS notification, OR via ask BO OR +662-078-1094 OR via sydhelpdesk@airasia.com.

Thai AirAsia X strongly encourages all guests to keep their email addresses and mobile numbers with their country code prefix updated in their AirAsia member profiles at Manage My Booking via airasia.com to ensure they are contactable for further assistance.

The above options are applicable for direct online bookings made via airasia.com or airasia MOVE only. For other types of bookings, such as those made through travel agents, kindly refer to your respective booking channel for further assistance.
