Traffic results for May 2019: Increased Demand results in Passenger Growth

• May 2019: over 1.3 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines, up 4.4 percent

Over 1.3 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines in May 2019, comprising an increase of 4.4 percent from the prior-year month. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up 4.2 percent, and revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) climbed 10.6 percent. Capacity utilization (passenger load factor) of the flights equaled 79.6 percent on average in May 2019, an increase of 4.6 percentage points compared to the previous year. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was increased by 1.3 percent to a total of 12,668.

"The demand for flights is rising. That is why we could welcome more passengers on board. Capacity utilization was also up despite our increased offering", says Andreas Otto, Member of the Management Board and CCO of Austrian Airlines.

Austrian Airlines transported about 5.3 million passengers in the months from January to May 2019, comprising a rise of 6.2 percent from the previous year. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers was up 6.2 percent, and revenue passenger kilometers climbed 9.5 percent compared to the first five months of 2018. Capacity utilization of the flights amounted to 76.6 percent, an increase of 2.3 percentage points. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was up 3.3 percent to 53,317 in the months from January to May 2019.

Im Mai 2019 sind über 1,3 Millionen Passagiere mit Austrian Airlines geflogen. Das entspricht einem Plus von 4,4 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat. Das Angebot gemessen in ASK ist um 4,2 Prozent erhöht worden. Die verkauften Sitzkilometer sind um 10,6 Prozent gestiegen. Die Auslastung im Monat Mai 2019 hat im Durchschnitt 79,6 Prozent betragen, was um 4,6 Prozentpunkte mehr ist als im Vorjahr. Die Anzahl der von Austrian Airlines durchgeführten Flüge hat sich um 1,3 Prozent auf 12.668 erhöht.

"Die Nachfrage nach Flugreisen steigt. Daher konnten wir mehr Passagiere an Bord begrüßen. Auch die Auslastung konnten wir bei erweitertem Angebot steigern", sagt Andreas Otto, Vorstandsmitglied und CCO von Austrian Airlines.

Von Jänner bis Mai 2019 hat Austrian Airlines in Summe rund 5,3 Millionen Passagiere befördert. Das entspricht einem Anstieg von 6,2 Prozent. Das Angebot gemessen in ASK ist um 6,2 Prozent erhöht worden. Die verkauften Sitzkilometer sind im Vergleich zu den ersten fünf Monaten des Vorjahres um 9,5 Prozent gestiegen. Die Auslastung hat 76,6 Prozent betragen. Das entspricht einer Steigerung von 2,3 Prozentpunkten. Die Anzahl der von Austrian Airlines durchgeführten Flüge ist seit Jahresbeginn um 3,3 Prozent auf 53.317 erhöht worden.
