Start spreading the news: Auckland-New York schedule revealed

Air New Zealand is pleased to announce its inaugural flight from Auckland to New York (EWR) will take off on 29 October 2020, becoming the first-ever direct air service between Australasia and New York. With its iconic landmarks, galleries, museums, Broadway shows and more, New York is one of the most exciting and vibrant cities in the world - and the top of many travellers bucket lists.

The flight will be operated three times weekly, year-round by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the latest, premium-focused configuration.

Along with connections from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, the new route will give customers in Adelaide, Gold Coast, Cairns and the Sunshine Coast a one-stop journey to New York compared with current options from those ports which typically require a transit stop in both Australia and the US.

Subject to final regulatory approvals and crewing agreements the schedule between Auckland and Newark Liberty International Airport will be:

Flight Number Aircraft Departs Arrives Day of Week
NZ 2 787-9 Dreamliner (78N) Auckland (AKL) 1955 Newark (EWR) 1735 Mon, Thu, Sat
NZ 1 Newark (EWR) 1905 Auckland (AKL) 645+2

Flight time is expected to be 15 hours 40 mins northbound, and 17 hours 40 minutes southbound.
Flights will go on sale in November 2019 and your GDS will be updated at this time.
