Revamping of Salvador Bahia airport goes one step further

Direct News Source

Salvador Bahia airport continues to achieve progress with the modernization and expansion works. It recently successfully unified domestic and international boarding areas - the new feature improves operations and will benefit passengers who have access to a more modern and integrated area.

The unified boarding area allows all passengers to circulate in the same environment and enjoy all the commercial facilities and services. Only when boarding, international passengers will be directed to the new pier. News bars and restaurants opening by the end of the year, added to the Duty Paid store already delivered in May will offer a complete mix of commercial options within the boarding area, another important differential for the airport. "Our goal is for passengers to have more food options after checking their luggage and going through the x-ray, slightly changing people's view of arriving just to board. We want passengers to enjoy the terminal with more tranquility", commented Júlio Ribas, CEO of Salvador Bahia airport.

The airport has also recently delivered the first international bridge of its new pier - bridge 13. Overall, the new pier will house six modern boarding bridges capable of servicing large aircraft for international flights. This area will benefit from sustainable innovations such as solar power supply and a water reuse system. Along with other improvements, airport passenger capacity will be increased from 10 million to 15 million a year. In October, upon the full delivery of the new pier, Salvador Bahia airport will go from 11 to 17 boarding bridges.
