Resumption of flights to six more states allowed

On 10 June, the Government has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allow resumption of regular flights to Lithuania from Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Cyprus. Carriers wishing to operate scheduled flights have to submit a flight schedule to the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration three days prior to their commencement.

The Government has agreed that scheduled flights may be resumed from the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, provided that the incidence of coronavirus infection has not exceeded 25 cases per 100,000 population in the country of destination over the last 14 calendar days.

Every Monday, the Head of the State Emergency Operations shall establish and publish the list of such states.

As of 8 June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has withdrawn the top warning 'not to go abroad' in relation to Spain and Malta, yet specific warnings remain. The warning not to travel to the UK, Sweden, and Portugal remains.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling for the abandonment of unnecessary travel to Belgium and Ireland, where the incidence of COVID-19 remains higher than 15 cases per 100,000 population over the last 14 days.

Travelers to other countries in the European Economic Area are encouraged to take precautions. It is especially important to note that the morbidity situation can change very quickly, which may lead to renewal of necessary restrictions both in foreign countries and in Lithuania. Lithuanian citizens planning to travel abroad, especially outside Europe, are encouraged to assess carefully possible travel disruptions and to take note of the requirements still applied in foreign countries with regard to isolation upon arrival, etc.

As of Monday, the list of countries from which foreigners may enter Lithuania has been updated. Note that Lithuanian citizens may always return to Lithuania, yet the list of countries indicates, whether it will be necessary for them to comply with compulsory isolation upon return.
