21-Sep-2017 Tourism and Major Events Minister Kate Jones today launched a world-first marketing initiative to shine the spotlight on Queensland's best tourism experiences.

Ms Jones said the Best of Queensland Experiences Program would help boost tourism in Queensland by identifying products that consistently deliver a high-quality visitor experience.

"When we play to our strengths everyone wins," she said.

"This program will put on show the very best of Queensland's tourism experiences.

"We know that today's travellers are looking for unique and authentic tourism experiences and this innovative program will identify those that best bring the Queensland story to life, fostering trust in the Queensland brand.

"The Best of Queensland Experiences will be assessed according to online customer feedback as well as meeting other criteria like social media presence and a web-based booking platform.

"We want to support our tourism operators to be the best they can and build their digital capability."

Ms Jones said the Palaszczuk Government was determined to ensure Queensland remained at the forefront of consumer expectations so that visitors stay longer, spend more, tell their friends and return again.

"This program will strengthen and add value to Queensland's tourism industry, encourage operators to deliver the best experience possible for consumers and ensure Queensland's tourism offering is the best in the world," she said.

"What makes this such a unique program is that the customer will have the strongest say about what they think is a great experience.

"We know that Queensland has some of the best experiences in the world - from diving on the Great Barrier Reef to walking in the footsteps of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors orexperiencing a quintessential Queensland event such as the Magic Millions Race Day and Carnival on the Gold Coast.

"What makes them unforgettable is that visitors are immersed in these experiences alongside friendly Queensland locals."

The Best of Queensland Experiences Program was developed by Tourism and Events Queensland in close consultation with Queensland's Regional Tourism Organisations and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.
