Airline strengthens its commitment to Australian market with the launch of its state-of-the-art A380 service

To celebrate the upcoming launch of its A380 service from Perth to Doha, Qatar Airways hosted key stakeholders in the Perth travel industry to an event held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The airline showcased their award-winning Business Class seat that passengers can soon enjoy on the Qatar Airways A380 service from Perth to Doha, commencing May 1, 2018.
The spectacular cocktail event was hosted by former Miss World Australia, Erin Holland, who performed a set of travel-themed songs to conclude the glamorous night.
Qatar Airways' Senior Manager for Australasia, Mr. Adam Radwanski, Perth Airport CEO, Mr. Kevin Brown, Perth Airport CCO Mr. Steven Holden, and 100 travel agents attended the launch, and 'test drove' the award-winning Business Class seat.
Mr. Adam Radwanski said: "We are excited to launch our A380 service from Perth to further expand our offering to our Australian passengers. The A380 service will undoubtedly enhance customer experience with our luxurious First Class cabin, one of the largest onboard lounges in the sky, direct aisle access for all seats in Business Class with our 1-2-1 seat configuration, and a spacious Economy Class cabin. This aircraft will connect smoothly to our UK and Ireland network, offering passengers seamless access to Dublin and our five UK gateways - London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and soon, Cardiff. Qatar Airways always demands the very best for its customers and the launch of the A380 is our commitment to set the highest standards of excellence and quality in the industry."

The launch of the A380 service comes in tandem with a series of recent announcements by Qatar Airways to expand their global network, with more than 45 destinations in Europe alone for travellers to choose from.

On 7 March at ITB Berlin, the world's largest international travel fair, Qatar Airways announced a raft of forthcoming global destinations for the airline in line with its expansion plans, including the announcement that Qatar Airways will be the first Gulf carrier to begin direct service to Luxembourg and expanding its services to include London Gatwick, United Kingdom and Cardiff, United Kingdom. With the latest addition of Gatwick, Qatar Airways will increase its London services, to nine daily flights servicing Heathrow and Gatwick (including a British Airways' codeshare flight from Doha to London).

Passengers connecting from state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport in Doha to London can enjoy a transfer time as brief as 55 minutes.

Complementing Qatar Airways' London service includes a double daily service to Manchester, and daily flights to Cardiff, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. The 517-seater A380 is spread across twin decks in a tri-class configuration of eight seats in First Class, 48 seats in Business Class and 461 in Economy Class, featuring world-class amenities and first rate services that set it apart from other aircraft and airlines.

The double-decker aircraft features a luxurious and exclusive First Class Cabin with ultra-wide seats, which recline into a flat bed, two-passenger table extension dining, and designer sleeper suits, flight slippers and amenities. Passengers travelling in Qatar Airways' award-winning Business Class can also enjoy direct aisle access with the 1-2-1 seat configuration and a suite of entertainment options including on-board Wi-Fi, keeping them fully connected while up in the air. In addition, passengers in First and Business Class can relax and socialise at the luxurious onboard lounge located on the upper deck of the superjumbo. Economy Class passengers also benefit with the added spaciousness of the A380, with higher ceilings on the main deck, a wider seat configuration and design to offer more legroom plus contoured headrests. Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA). Just last month, the airline welcomed the Airbus A350-1000, for which it is the global launch customer.
