Porter Airlines 2010 traffic statistics show significant growth
21-Sep-2010 August load factor grows 11.4 points to 63.9%
Porter Airlines will be releasing monthly traffic statistics in order to share information about its growth and progress.
The most recent month of August produced a load factor of 63.9 per cent, based on 99.7 million ASMs (Available Seat Miles) and 63.7 million RPMs (Revenue Passenger Miles). This represents an 11.4 point load factor increase from 52.5 per cent in August 2009. ASMs grew 69 per cent from 59.1 million and RPMs increased 105 per cent from 31.0 million over the same period.
"Beginning a standard disclosure process summarizing our monthly traffic will help inform the market about Porter's competitive positioning," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "This initial release also includes figures beginning from the second quarter in order to provide additional context related to Porter's progress this year."

"The improvements shown in 2010, particularly in the second half of the year, largely reflect a fully deployed 20-aircraft fleet as of this spring," said Deluce. "Capacity is being absorbed rapidly as new routes and additional flight frequencies mature in the market.
"Porter's industry-leading break-even load factor of 49 per cent in 2009 puts us in a very good position for the rest of this year given the type of numbers we are posting."
