Menzies Continues Australia Cargo Expansion

Direct News Source

Menzies Aviation continued to grow its geographic footprint in Australia by opening a new cargo facility in Melbourne Avalon in December 2018.

Malaysian carrier AirAsia X switched its twice-daily Kuala Lumpur flight from Melbourne Tullamarine to Melbourne's second airport at Avalon. AirAsia X is the inaugural international airline to transport cargo to Avalon Airport and are forecasts to carry around 10,000 tons via the new location in 2019.

The airline had previously flown into Tullamarine, 40 miles (65 kilometres) away. To facilitate the cargo handing model, Menzies Aviation trucking services links the two locations, offering cargo transport solutions to our partner airline and the local freight forwarding industry.

Clayton Williams, GM Cargo for the area, said: "We are very pleased to continue to partner with AirAsia X in Melbourne Avalon. The new location enables the expansion of our trucking solutions in Victoria and has been received very positively by the local freight forwarder community."
