25-Feb-2015 Jetstar's dream fleet nears completion with B787 to be introduced on flights from Singapore to Melbourne in August

Jetstar has announced a number of new routes which will be operated by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from later this year, with customers travelling between Singapore and Melbourne to experience the aircraft from August.

Jetstar Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said the airline was delighted to be offering the 787 to customers travelling from Singapore and destinations across Asia to Australia.

"We've had great feedback from our customers travelling on the 787 across our international network - the bright spacious feel in the cabin and the gate-to-gate seat back in-flight entertainment has been a hit," Ms Hrdlicka said.

"We're excited for more of our customers to enjoy this inflight experience to Australia, whether travelling direct from Singapore or connecting from more than 20 destinations across Asia with Jetstar Asia."

Jetstar is two-thirds of the way through its transition to an all 787 long haul fleet and has now operated more than 4,000 passenger services with the aircraft type since its inaugural flight in November 2013.

The announcement coincides with Jetstar's eighth Boeing 787 Dreamliner having taken off on its maiden passenger service from Sydney to Honolulu. The rollout schedule is as follows:
Sydney - Honolulu - 19 February 2015 (six per week)
 Tokyo (Narita) - Melbourne* - 10 July 2015 (four per week)
Singapore - Melbourne* - 5 August 2015 (five per week)
Melbourne - Honolulu* - 14 September 2015 (three per week)
Brisbane - Honolulu* - 14 September 2015 (three per week)

Ms Hrdlicka said the introduction of the 787 had helped the low fares airline improve the onboard experience for customers while also significantly reducing operating costs.

"The introduction of this aircraft has fundamentally changed the economics of our long haul flying with the substantial fuel savings it delivers and will also reduce maintenance costs," Ms Hrdlicka said.

"We're looking forward to taking delivery of three additional 787s this year and completing the transition to an all 787 long haul fleet by September.

"This will enable us to offer a more consistent experience across our long haul international network and unlock further cost benefits to help us keep fares low for our customers."

The delivery of the remaining 787s on order will see Jetstar offer the aircraft on all long haul routes by September 2015, replacing the Airbus A330s. Fares on 787 services are now available to book at Jetstar.com.

Jetstar offers up to 5 return flights a week from Singapore to Melbourne, with onward connections to Jetstar's domestic network across Australia.
