In the 1st quarter of this year, Incheon Airport recorded the best performance in various transport indicators including the number of transfer passengers, passengers, and flights, reinforcing its position as the hub airport in the Northeast Asia region.
In the 1st quarter, the accumulated number of transfer passengers was 2.07 million, an increase of 30.5% from the same period in the previous year (1.59million in 2012). The increase rate was the largest ever. Even though the number of Japanese tourists has dropped due to the weak Japanese yen, the number of transfer passengers has gradually increased, proving the robust status of Incheon Airport as the hub in Northeast Asia.
During the cited period, the total number of passengers was10.33 million, an increase of 11.5% over the same period last year, and the number of flights was 67,000 times, an increase of 13%. Furthermore, by attracting new airlines such as Lao Airlines the airport set the largest record of airlines ever, 88.
