For the First Time in its History, Sheremetyevo Airport Services Over 23 Million Passengers

On 10November 2012, Sheremetyevo Airport set a new operational record, serving 23,021,000 air passengers since the beginning of the year

Between January and October 2012, Sheremetyevo International Airport serviced 22,326,000 passengers, which is 17% more than in the same period of 2011. During the first ten months of 2012, the number of passengers on international flights (IFs) grew by 19.6%, reaching the figure of 14,754,000 passengers, while the segment of domestic flights (DFs) grew by 12.3% (reaching 7,573,000 air passengers).

In October 2012, passenger traffic increased by 15.6%, reaching the figure of 2,235,000 passengers. That said, the number of passengers on IFs grew by 17.7%, reaching the figure of 1,461,000 passengers, while the segment of DFs grew by 11.8% (reaching 774,000 passengers).

The most popular foreign destinations in the first ten months of 2012 were Antalya, Khurgada, Paris, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Prague, Beijing, Larnaka, New-York and Istanbul. The most popular domestic destinations were Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad and Rostov-on-Don.

During the period from January through October 2012, 192,252 aircraft movements (take-offs and landings) were handled at Sheremetyevo Airport - 9.3% more than in the same period of 2011. In October, the number of take-offs and landings grew by 7.6%, reaching the figure of 19,506 movements.

According to the ACI EUROPE ranking, in September 2012, Sheremetyevo Airport became a growth leader in terms of passenger traffic (+17.6%) among European airports, with passenger traffic of from 10 to 25 million passengers per year.
