European V4+ Airports speak with one voice about international cooperation

More than twenty airports from Central and Eastern Europe met in Warsaw to join the works and to exchange views and experiences related to the aviation market. The initiator of the event was the "Polish Airports" State Enterprise, which wants to improve and extend the design work, making the V4+ Airports group an important partner in the discussion on the future of the European aviation market.

Representatives of 22 European airports, including airports from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia and Slovenia declared their readiness to continue the ongoing program related to the activities of the V4+ Airports group and further business cooperation. Participants care about ensuring optimal conditions for the further functioning of the airports.

I would like to congratulate you very warmly, because our meeting today is a milestone towards creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and views on the future of European airports. I am very glad that you express your willingness to cooperate in such important matters– said the CEO of "Polish Airports" State Enterprise, Stanisław Wojtera.

The initiative of the "Polish Airports" State Enterprise was met with great interest. The meeting was also attended by, i.a.: Marcin Horała (deputy minister of infrastructure), Piotr Samson (president of the Civil Aviation Authority), Janusz Janiszewski (president of PANSA), Mikołaj Wild (CEO of Solidarity Transport Hub).

During the meeting, the participants discussed strategies related to the reconstruction of air traffic that had been affected by the pandemic. They also discussed procedures and courses of action that will help restore confidence in air travel. The participants agreed that one of the key issues is to make up for financial losses and create joint concepts that will allow airports to work even more effectively and achieve synergy.

Aviation is currently in the reconstruction phase after one of the greatest crises in its history. It should be emphasized that each crisis is also an opportunity. I am convinced that the current situation has an enormous potential that must be used – said deputy minister of Infrastructure Marcin Horała.

During the meeting of V4+ Airports, a draft letter of intent was also presented. The document proposes a legal form that would legitimize further cooperation. The group's initiators propose the establishment of an international association whose members will work out common standards applicable at airports. The Association, as a formal organization, will work to agree a common position on the changes taking place in international aviation law. In areas of strategic importance and where it will be economically justified, the members of the association will support their activities. The focus will be on training, tourism and culture promotion, security, ground handling and air operations.

The participants of the meeting declared that their activities would be aimed at creating a timeless project - the V4+ Airports Association. It will jointly influence the shape of international regulations. The aim of the airport representatives is to use the advantages and potential of airports to create a group whose voice will be heard in the public discussion on the future of the European aviation market.
