CPH: Solid growth in September

10-Oct-2013

Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport were up 3.5% in September. A total of 2,198,245 passengers made this the busiest month of September ever. The year-to-date increase in passenger numbers was 3.2%.

The solid growth continued at Copenhagen Airport in September. Close to 2.2 million travellers - more than 2 million of them international passengers - secured Copenhagen Airport a sixth consecutive month of growth.

"If we look to Europe and our main competitors - the other major hub airports - our growth is clearly above average, and our consistent and targeted efforts to attract new routes were recently recognised when we won the award as the world's best airport in terms of route development at the World Routes conference in Las Vegas. I see this as a well-merited recognition of our serious and focused marketing to airlines," said Copenhagen Airport's CEO, Thomas Woldbye.

The number of international passengers increased by 3.4%, and the number of transfer passengers was 1.1% higher than in the same month of last year. In September, the number of domestic passengers increased for the first time since the bankruptcy of Cimber Sterling in May 2012, as 5.1% more passengers travelled on Danish domestic services than in September last year.

The total number of passengers at Copenhagen Airport for the year to date is 18,240,093, which is just over 570,000 more than in the same period of last year and represents a growth rate of 3.2%.
