Carefree traveling: Austrian Airlines expands Covid-19 insurance offers

  • Carefree and relaxed traveling with AXA Partners "Travel Care Basic" and AIG "Travel Care" as well as "Travel Care Plus"
  • Individual travel cover in the event of a Covid-19 illness
  • Insurance covers medical costs and compensation in case of quarantine

Many Austrians want to catch up on their long-awaited summer holiday. With the flexible and free rebooking option until the end of July 2021 and the individual insurance packages that offer comprehensive protection in the event of a Covid-19 illness, Austrian Airlines enables passengers to travel without worries. In addition to the existing "Travel Care" and "Travel Care Plus" packages from AIG Europe S.A., the AXA Partners insurance package "Travel Care Basic" now offers additional travel protection.

The new "Travel Care Basic" package offers quick access to German and English-speaking doctors who provide initial information on medical questions worldwide. In addition, medical costs are covered in the event of a Covid-19 illness or treatment abroad, including repatriation. Travel liability and travel accident insurance are also included. If accommodation is required due to quarantine or lockdown, this is covered for up to 14 nights and up to 175 euros per night. Travellers can book "Travel Care Basic" for only 14.99 euros per trip and person directly on the Austrian Airlines website until shortly before departure.

Optionally, passengers can also choose between the previous insurance packages. While "Travel Care" includes compensation for passengers in the event of quarantine at the destination or travel cancellation and interruption insurance, the "Travel Care Plus" option additionally covers medical costs in the event of a Covid-19 illness up to and including emergency return transport.
