15-Aug-2017 Singapore Airlines today announced it will deploy three of the most modern aircraft in its fleet, the Airbus A350-900 to Brisbane on flights SQ235/256, SQ245/246 and SQ255/236.

The introduction of the three new aircraft will occur over a four-month period starting from Monday 16 October 2017, when SQ235/256 will change from an A330-300 to the new A350-900.

The second A350 will begin operating to Brisbane from Saturday 16 December 2017 when it replaces the current Boeing 777-200 currently operating flights SQ245/246.

On Tuesday 16 January 2018 will see the third A350 make its debut in Brisbane, also replacing the Boeing 777-200 on flights SQ255/236.

The Airbus A350-900 is fitted with 253 seats across three cabins, with 42 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, 24 Premium Economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration and 187 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.

The introduction of the A350 to Brisbane from 16 October will provide customers the opportunity to experience Singapore Airlines next-generation Business and Economy Class seats as well as introduce Premium Economy Class on the Brisbane-Singapore route for the first time.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor, said deployment of the three A350-900 aircraft reinforced Singapore Airlines commitment to Brisbane.

"Brisbane continues to be an important market for Singapore Airlines on Australia's East coast," Mr Tan said.

"The introduction of these three new Airbus A350-900 aircraft along with the introduction of a fourth daily service is in response to the growing demand we have seen from the Queensland market.

"While this growth is across all cabin classes the demand for additional premium cabin options has been encouraging.

"With the growing number of A350 aircraft entering our fleet it makes sense to deploy three of them to Brisbane to help meet the premium market demand that we are seeing.

"Not only will it provide the market with our new Business Class cabin product, it will also offer an alternative premium cabin option, Premium Economy, which I am confident will be warmly received."

The next-generation Business Class seat offers greater recline at 132 degrees, with an improved ergonomic seat cushion. The seat also includes two new seating positions - 'Lazy Z' and 'Sundeck' - providing even greater flexibility for customers to choose their preferred ways to work or relax. When converted, it becomes a 78-inch-long fully-flat bed, with a padded headboard cushion for enhanced comfort. More stowage space has also been added, with an amenity stowage area on the side console and laptop stowage area.

Customers choosing to fly in Singapore Airlines New Premium Economy Class will enjoy a contemporary and stylish design in a 2-4-2 layout. Each seat has a width of 19 inches, with an 8-inch recline and seat pitch of 38 inches. Together with active noise-cancelling headphones, a sleek 13.3-inch full HD monitor and Champagne, customers can look forward to an enhanced in-flight entertainment experience.

Other features include a full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar for every seat, individual in-seat power supply, two USB ports, personal in-seat reading light, cocktail table, and more stowage space for personal items.

Priority check-in and baggage handling, with a generous baggage allowance of 35kg, is also offered, while members of the KrisFlyer frequent-flyer programme will receive 10% more miles when they fly Premium Economy.

The new Economy Class seat also provides additional comfort, with increased personal space and legroom. Seats feature new backrest cushions with side bolsters for better support. An ergonomically sculpted headrest cushion provides an increased range of height adjustments and improved neck support.

Complementing the new seats is Singapore Airlines latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system. Upgraded with the latest hardware offerings and an intuitive graphical user interface.

The A350-900 is the newest addition to the Singapore Airlines fleet and will provide customers travelling to and from Brisbane with features such as higher ceilings, larger windows, an extra wide body and lighting designed to reduce jetlag.

The arrival of the new aircraft will also allow customers the opportunity to utilise the Singapore Airlines Companion App, giving customers greater control over their in-flight entertainment (IFE) experience - even before boarding the aircraft regardless of the class they are travelling in.

The companion app, which was developed for Singapore Airlines by MTT in conjunction with Panasonic Avionics, enables customers to review the IFE video and audio content that will be available on their flight, create pre-selected favourites lists, and control the seat-back IFE system - all using their personal electronic devices.

Singapore Airlines' has a total of 67 A350-900 aircraft on firm order and have already taken delivery of 16 since the first aircraft entered the fleet in March last year.
