BAA has announced that they are to sell Edinburgh Airport, with a view to completing a deal by summer 2012.

Scottish Conservative Transport Spokesman, Jackson Carlaw MSP said:

"It is a great compliment to the work that has been carried out at Edinburgh Airport that it has grown to be the largest airport in Scotland with over nine million passengers using it every year. Its strong position is cemented and passengers can look forward to a strong future for the airport no matter who takes it over.

"Edinburgh Airport is the jewel in BAA's crown and it will undoubtedly be sold for a large sum to whoever the new buyer may be. What is vitally important now is that BAA use the funds gained from the sale to further improve and invest in Glasgow and Aberdeen Airports to create even better services for Scottish passengers."
