Avinor: International traffic increases by 5 percent

A total of 3,416,169 passengers travelled to or from one of Avinor's airports during February, an increase of 0.4 percent compared to the same month last year. International traffic grew by 5.1 percent whilst domestic shrank by 2.1 percent.

2012 was of course a leap year, and February this year is one day shorter, which affects traffic figures for February.

Passenger totals dropped by 0.6 percent in February at Avinor's biggest airport, Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, compared to the same month last year.

Growth was highest amongst the biggest airports at Stavanger Airport, Sola with a rise of 6.5 percent. Bergen Airport, Flesland recorded growth of 2 percent, whilst Trondheim Airport, Værnes, grew by 1.8 percent.

Of the national airports - Bodø, Tromsø, Kristiansand and Ålesund - Tromsø achieved the highest growth of 4.3 percent, whilst Ålesund Airport, Vigra, recorded a downturn of 9.8 percent.

The regional airports recorded an average downturn of 0.1 percent, and local airports recorded a downturn of 6.9 percent.

Total aircraft movements declined by 2.3 percent compared with the same month last year.
