Avinor: Currently no ash over mainland Norway

23-May-2011 Forecasts indicate that no ash will enter the airspace over mainland Norway until Tuesday afternoon.

Air traffic between Norway and Svalbard has been stopped following the introduction of a temporary hazard area due to ash between Norway and Svalbard. Other air traffic will operate as usual for the next day. 



Air traffic between Norway and Iceland will resume from 20.00 this evening. Traffic between the USA and Europe is affected in the sense that other routes are used.

It appears that ash may enter the airspace over southern Norway on Tuesday, but it is still uncertain whether the ash levels will affect Norwegian air traffic.

The Bodø control centre is heading Avinor's operative work.
