Avinor: Air traffic grows by 5 per cent

16-Oct-2013

Air traffic to and from Avinor's airports rose by 5.1 per cent in September compared with the same month last year. International traffic showed the greatest increase at 7.2 per cent.

Domestic travel increased by 3.7 per cent. A total of 4 466 332 passengers flew to or from Avinor's airports in September.

Among the major airports, Oslo saw a growth of 4.2 per cent in September, while Bergen had a rise of 10.1 per cent, Stavanger 3.9 per cent and Trondheim 1 per cent.

"Growth in air travel continues to beat our forecasts, and at some airports, such as Bergen, we see a growth that is very pleasing on the one hand - but it also gives us challenges. Overall, the growth illustrates the importance of the development projects to increase capacity that Avinor is both implementing and planning for the future," said CEO Dag Falk-Petersen.

Aircraft movements showed a 5.5 per cent year-on-year increase in September.

In total, 36 585 074 passengers have flown to or from Avinor's airports so far this year.
