Airbus: The month in review: July 2018
Aug-2018 Airbus expanded the bookings for its A350 XWB - already one of the most successful widebody aircraft ever - with an order in July for eight of the A350-900 versions. During the month, Airbus delivered a total of 77 commercial jetliners from across its A220, A320, A330, A350 XWB and A380 product lines.
The eight A350-900s added to Airbus' order books were acquired by an undisclosed customer. This brings overall orders for the A350 XWB to 890 aircraft from 46 customers.
With July's new business taken into account, net orders logged by Airbus during the first seven months of 2018 involved a total of 214 jetliners (composed of 145 A319s, A320s and A321s in the NEO version; 11 A319s, A320s and A321s in the CEO configuration; four A330ceo jetliners, four A330neo aircraft, 36 A350 XWBs and 14 A380s).
Airbus deliveries in July were made to 50 customers, with the single-aisle jetliner handovers paced by the 63 A320 Family aircraft - of which 44 were the A320neo and A321neo versions. Receiving their first A321neo aircraft were easyJet and Turkish Airlines, while Shenzhen Airlines and Vueling accepted its initial A320neo.
The monthly Airbus figures also included the single-aisle A220 Family for the first time, with two of these aircraft delivered in July.
Widebody aircraft deliveries during the month involved five A330s in the A330-200/A330-300 configurations, six A350 XWBs (in both the A350-900 and A350-1000 versions), along with one A380.
As of 31 July, Airbus' overall backlog of commercial jetliners remaining to be delivered stood at 7,464 aircraft.
