Air Vanuatu’s IOSA Registration Confirmed

The announcement was officially conveyed to the airline by IATA on 10 August with Air Vanuatu's inclusion on the IOSA Registry valid until August 2020.

To become a registered IOSA carrier, airlines must satisfy more than 950 criteria, covering all aspects of airline operations from safety systems, training and reporting to flight operations.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. All IATA members are IOSA-registered and must remain registered to retain IATA membership.

Chief Executive Officer Derek Nice said the results of the 2018 audit are a credit to the management and staff at Air Vanuatu who began the audit in May and the preparation even before that.

"IOSA accreditation is a process that affects every aspect of our business. Our executive managers, line managers and frontline staff were all involved and worked very hard throughout the audit process."

Mr. Nice said the audit started in May with the arrival of a US-based team from safety audit-specialist Argus-Pros and, with follow-up, continued through to the end of July. The auditors determined Air Vanuatu not only has well documented policies and procedures in place, but also is implementing and following those procedures according to IOSA standards.

"The world's leading airlines are IOSA carriers and the importance of membership cannot be overstated. It allows us to be a part of the global air travel network through codeshare agreements and other partnerships," Mr. Nice said.

"The re-registry is a great result and I thank our staff for their dedicated effort and commitment to safety and security procedures," Mr. Nice said.
