Air New Zealand extends partnership with Wamos Air

We are extending our partnership with leading charter airline Wamos Air to ensure that we continue to get customers where they need to be and protect their travel plans in the months ahead.

Wamos Air will continue to operate daily return Perth - Auckland services on behalf of Air New Zealand until 28 October 2023.

The move is still a temporary solution while we continue to build back and face unprecedented demand for travel, which is especially high over the Easter and July school holiday periods.

All customers on these flights, no matter the fare purchased, will continue to be offered our
Air New Zealand meal service, including beverages. Customers will also be able to enjoy movies and TV shows on the aircraft's Inflight Entertainment system. Customers will still be greeted by Air New Zealand customer service agents at the Airport check-in and at the gate.

Schedule:

The extension of the Perth - Auckland v.v. services operated by Wamos Air on Air New Zealand's behalf will continue as follows:

Flight # From To Aircraft
type
Seat
configuration
Cabins available Travel Period
NZ173 AKL PER A330-200 Y - 260 Economy (theworks) 17 Feb - 28 Oct 23
NZ174 PER AKL C - 20 Business PremierTM

The flights above will be loaded into the GDS, and the following will apply:

  • New bookings will receive a comment at the time of booking that shows 'NZ173 OPERATED BY WAMOS AIR ON BEHALF OF AIRNZ'.
  • An SSR will be generated for all existing GDS bookings, this will read 'NZ173 OPERATED BY WAMOS AIR ON BEHALF OF AIRNZ'.
  • PNRs will be updated with a UN/TK status in the GDS with new flight numbers, including downgrades from Premium Economy to theworks if applicable.
  • Please accept the TK status to ensure the original ticketed fare basis remains and existing Premium Economy customers receive their two-piece baggage allowance, Airpoints Dollars™ and Status Points accrual. Note, a ticket reissue is not required.
  • There will be no change to customers' tickets who hold an existing seat or seat+bag fare. These customers will automatically receive our full meal service, including beverages and Inflight Entertainment.

Key things to note:

  • As there is no Premium Economy cabin available on the Wamos Air aircraft, Premium Economy customers will automatically be reaccommodated to Economy in theworks (V class). Customers are entitled to a refund of the fare difference between the original fare paid and Economy V class, as well as a $150 NZD goodwill gesture per person, per sector. Please visit the Customer Flexibility section for more information.
  • Customers who wish to upgrade to Business Premier™ can do so via the following options (subject to availability):
    • Purchase a Business Premier™ seat by paying the airfare difference from V class to the best available Business Premier™ fare.
    • Make an upgrade request using OneUp, a Loyalty Recognition Upgrade, or an Elite Airpoints Dollars upgrade.
  • Customers with existing pre-purchased Exit row and Economy and Business Premier™ Bassinet seating will automatically be reaccommodated to a like-for-like replacement. If a like-for-like is not available, a refund will be issued.
  • Outside of Exit row, Economy, and Business Premier™ Bassinet seats, all existing pre-paid seats will need to be refunded.
    • Seating may be refunded through your GDS using endorsement "Invol refund due WAMOS/NZ Schedule Change" or contact Agency Sales to process the refund if this has been actioned through the team.
  • For travel from 17 February 2023, pre-paid seating is available for purchase on the Wamos Air aircraft (including Exit row and Economy and Business Premier™ Bassinet).
  • As the Wamos Air seat configuration differs from the Air New Zealand 787 aircraft, please ensure you check your customers seating carefully and allocate as required.
