Air Berlin realises total revenue of EUR 877.0 million in the second quarter of 2010

London, 24 August 2010 - Air Berlin group´s total revenue in the second quarter of 2010 increased compared to the second quarter of 2009 due to the acquisition of the TUIfly City Carrier business by 4.9 per cent from EUR 836.2 million to EUR 877.0 million (Q2 2009 pro-forma*: EUR 935.0 million).

The results in the quarter under review were significantly affected by exceptional charges due to the airspace closures in April resulting from the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Accordingly, the EBITDAR has decreased from EUR 134,9 million in the second quarter of 2009 to EUR 124.3 million (Q2 2009 pro-forma*: EUR 160.1 million).

The result from operating activities (EBIT) declined from EUR 17.6 million in 2009 to EUR -28.2 million in the second quarter of 2010 (Q2 2009 pro-forma*: EUR 15.3 million). The pre-tax earnings have decreased from EUR 7.3 million to EUR -68.2 million (Q2 2009 pro-forma*: EUR 4.8 million).

Net results in the second quarter of 2010 amount to EUR -56.9 million after a tax benefit of EUR 11.3 million as compared to EUR 7.1 million in the second quarter of 2009 (Q2 2009 pro-forma*: EUR 4.7 million).
