Aerospace Xelerated applications are open!

Direct News Source

We're really excited to launch the call for startups using Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence that advance the way aircraft are built, from the factory floor all the way to the passenger journey.

Following two successful cohorts of the ATI Boeing Accelerator programme, I'm delighted to share that Boeing is taking the accelerator forward with industry partners in its third year.

Our newly launched Aerospace Xelerated programme will invest into exceptional startups using autonomous and AI technology to the benefit of the aerospace industry. Applications via the programme website are now open and close 26th September.

We've had great success with our previous two cohorts and we're excited to take the new programme forward this year. At Boeing, we believe there is a huge opportunity for innovative startups focussed on autonomy and AI to disrupt every aspect of aerospace, from the supply chain to onboard customer service and we're eager to double down and support more businesses.

We've seen incredible leaps forward in aerospace and connected industries in the past 12 months, and we know we can offer startups looking to operate in this space incredible advantage.

Startups accepted onto the programme will benefit from £100k equity investment from Boeing (structured as an uncapped SAFE note). They will also have access to strategists and technical experts from industry and support in developing proof of concept opportunities. We'll be announcing our industry partners in the weeks to follow.

Through Aerospace Xelerated, startups will be introduced to a network of angels, venture capitalists and the wider aerospace industry, throughout the 12 week programme and our wider ecosystem events. Successful companies will also receive mentoring from a global network of experienced entrepreneurs, mentors and investors, plus over £100k in programme perks from startup providers including Google, Amazon, Stripe, and many more.

Our two previous cohorts have gone on to raise £20M in additional funding and create over 100 jobs. Organisations to work with past cohorts as partners or mentors include GKN Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, Frazer-Nash, Chevron Technology Ventures and EasyJet.

The programme is intended to support exceptional autonomy and AI startups who are striving to advance the future of aerospace. We're looking for world-class businesses who have traction (ideally with Proof of Concepts or contracts already in place) with predominantly software-based products in the AI or Autonomy fields. Startups do not necessarily have to be operating in the aerospace sector.

Applications are open until 26th September 2021. You can find the application form on the programme website. The 12 week accelerator will run January - March 2022.

Startups working in the following sectors are welcome to apply:

Assured Autonomy

Develop technologies assuring safe operation of autonomous flight functionality, including but not limited to AI/ML functions, on autonomous vehicles.

Assurance technologies include design-time techniques for more robust neural nets, run-time monitoring, and tools for building assurance cases to provide evidence of system safety to certification authorities.

Autonomous Navigation

AI applied to autonomous navigation using perception algorithm solutions for unpiloted/unmanned/driverless environments.

Generative Design

AI applied to generative design to explore all the possible permutations of a solution, learning from each iteration to quickly generate design alternatives.

Smart Maintenance

AI applied to predictive analytics on maintenance data to develop smart maintenance solutions.

Adaptive Learning

AI applied to predictive and prescriptive analytics for training of learners based on their role and performance history. Learners have a diverse set of skills, abilities and backgrounds and include pilots and mechanics.

Reduced Workload

Flight automation technologies that reduce crew workload by providing robustness and reliability to automate routine flight tasks.

Novel Aerospace AI Applications

AI applied to aerospace applications other than those described above.

If you'd like to meet the team, we're hosting an Ask Us Anything webinar on Thursday 26th August at 3pm BST. Register for a ticket here.
