Adelaide Airport announces new Managing Director

Adelaide Airport Ltd (AAL) today announced the appointment of Brenton Cox as its new Managing Director. Mr Cox will take up the position from December 10, 2021. Chair Rob Chapman said Mr Cox, who has been AAL's Executive General Manager Finance and Corporate since 2013, brought considerable experience and a strong understanding of the airport's operations to the role. "Mr Cox has played a key role in managing Adelaide Airport's expansion and significant passenger growth pre-COVID, and subsequently the airport's response to COVID over the past 18 months," Mr Chapman said. "He led a number of business changing initiatives including securing the first loan in Australia that incentivised a borrower to further improve its sustainability performance against a set of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria. "Mr Cox has demonstrated a clear vision for the growth of Adelaide Airport as we emerge from the pandemic, from an aeronautical, property and business development perspective." Prior to joining AAL, Mr Cox was a non-executive director of Sydney Airport and Hobart Airport and worked as an executive with Macquarie Airports and Macquarie Capital in London and Sydney. Mr Cox has a Masters of Law from the University of Cambridge in the UK and three undergraduate degrees from Adelaide University including a First Class Honours degree in Law and degrees in Commerce and Finance. He currently sits on the Boards of the SA Property Council, SA Freight Council, is the Chair of Seymour College Board's Finance, Risk and Compliance Committee and is on the Adelaide University Business School Advisory Board. Current Managing Director Mark Young will continue with AAL until December 10 to assist with a smooth senior executive transition, after which he will focus on a career as a Non-Executive Director outside of Adelaide Airport. Mr Chapman congratulated Mr Young for overseeing an extraordinary period of growth since he took over the role in 2011. "Under Mark's leadership the airport has developed a strong brand and staff culture. On his watch, we have also seen several years of double-digit growth and welcomed Emirates, Qatar Airways and China Southern to Adelaide for the first time," Mr Chapman said. "He has also overseen the current terminal expansion project, delivery of the Atura Hotel and significant property development with the likes of Mitsubishi and OZ Minerals now headquartered at Adelaide Airport."
