$1.5M Rex Relief Fund available for victims of bushfires

Regional Express (Rex) is saddened by the tragic loss of lives and property caused by the catastrophic fires engulfing regional NSW and QLD and has decided to extend its Rex Relief Fund to victims of these bushfires.

Rex set up a $1 million Drought Fund in 2018, and earlier this year topped this up to $1.5 million and named it the Rex Relief Fund. This fund aims to extend aid to victims in regional and rural Australia of natural calamities like drought, floods and fires.

Community groups working to alleviate the impact of the bushfires can apply to draw from the fund in the form of $4 of travel on the Rex network for every $1 raised. Small businesses providing assistance to victims of the bushfires are also eligible for assistance.

Rex Deputy Chairman the Hon John Sharp AM says, "At Rex, our heart is in the country and our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to all residents in regional areas experiencing hardships because of the fires in NSW and QLD. We are in solidarity with regional Australia and the impacts of natural disasters, and this is why the Rex Relief Fund was established."

"Rex has the largest network in regional and rural Australia with 60 destinations, and most of those locations are in NSW and QLD. We are committed to supporting the regions through this time of hardship, and we have waived excess baggage fees for all fire fighters helping to combat the fires."

Interested parties for bushfire assistance may apply via the Rex website under About Rex - Sponsorship.
