About

Riyadh King Salman International Airport is an expansion of the current Riyadh King Khalid International Airport, to be undertaken by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. The expanded airport is expected to cover an area of 57sqkm and feature six runways, with capacity to handle up to 185 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes of freight annually by 2050.


Aug-2024. Saudi Arabia's King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC) selected engineering firm Jacobs to support the development of the new Riyadh King Salman International Airport. Jacobs will provide concept masterplan validation and specialist consultancy services for the masterplan and runway designs. The masterplan will cover an area of 57sqm and include six parallel runways, new terminals and real estate development in the surrounding area. KSIADC expects the new airport to accommodate up to 100 million passengers p/a by 2030.

Nov-2022. Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) plans to expand Riyadh King Khalid International Airport to accommodate up to 120 million passengers annually by 2030. The expanded airport, to be renamed Riyadh King Salman International Airport, is set to cover an area of 57sqkm and feature six runways. The airport is expected to process up to 185 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes of cargo by 2050, and contribute SAR27 billion (USD7.19 billion) annually to non-oil GDP.
