Oct-2026. Rostransmodernizatsia stated construction of New Mirny Airport is 75% complete. The airport is scheduled to open in 2027. The airport will be able to handle Ilyushin Il-76, Dash 8-Q400, Boeing 737 and 757 equipment.
Jan-2025. Sakha Republic's Government announced construction of New Mirny Airport is scheduled for completion in 2026/27. The new airport is being erected a few kilometres from existing Mirny Airport. Terminal construction is underway, with financing from ALROSA, and airfield construction will be resumed following a temporary suspension. Construction was initially scheduled for completion in 2024.
Jan-2020. FAI Glavgosexpertiza approved the project for the construction of a new Mirny Airport complex. The terminal is to handle 300 passengers per hour. The airport requires reconstruction work to ensure compliance with current aviation requirements. CJSC AK Alrosa will fund the construction of passenger and cargo terminals, refuelling complex and aircraft hangar. Runway, taxiway and apron construction, and installation of meteorological equipment, airfield systems and infrastructure will be funded by the federal government. State ATM Corporation will fund the construction of an air traffic control tower and installation of navigation systems.
Mar-2019. Alrosa's board approved plans for the establishment of subsidiary Airport Mirny for the construction of a new airport complex in Mirny by 2022. The project is estimated to require a RUB21.8 billion (EUR293.2 million) investment. The airport will be located 3km from the existing Mirny Airport.
