Mondulkiri Airport is a new domestic airport to be constructed in the Mondulkiri Province. The new airport will replace the old Mondulkiri Airport which will be converted to a park.


Mar-2024. Cambodia's State Secretariat for Civil Aviation (SSCA) and Focus Consortium launched a feasibility study on the proposed Mondulkiri Airport project. The SSCA said the cost of the project will be estimated once the feasibility study is completed.

Jun-2023. Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha stated government is looking for new partners to develop Mondulkiri Airport after PowerChina International Group withdrew its investment. Mr Chansereyvutha confirmed companies from China and South Korea have met with authorities regarding the airport. He added: “The SSCA is working hard to find legitimate, top-quality partners to invest in this project".

Sep-2022. Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha stated the development of Mondulkiri Airport has yet to break ground after PowerChina International Group, which was granted a construction permit, withdrew its investment for financial reasons. Mr Chansereyvutha added the Ministry of Economy and Finance is seeking new development partners to replace PowerChina.  

Oct-2021. Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha reported development of Mondulkiri Airport is behind schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport will be built on a 300ha site and may break ground as soon as 2022.

Jul-2021. Cambodia's Mondulkiri Provincial Governor Svay Sam Eang reported authorities are marking boundaries for 600ha of land from Sen Monorom town to construct a new airport. He said the old airport in the province will be converted into a park. 

Feb-2021. Cambodia's government established an inter ministry committee to lead and facilitate the construction of a domestic airport in the Mondulkiri province.

Jan-2021. Cambodia's government granted in principle approval for the construction of a new domestic airport in the Mondulkiri province under a public private partnership. State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) Undersecretary of State Sin Chansereyvutha reported full details of the airport plans could not yet be disclosed, including the total costs of the juncture. It is expected the planning study process could take around one year before the project is deemed ready for construction to start.

Apr-2019. Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism plans to construct a new airport in Mondulkiri province as part of a wider plan to develop tourism in the country's northeastern region.
