Bolgatanga Airport
About
Bolgatanga Airport is a new airport construction project announced by the Ghanaian Government for the town of Bolgatanga, colloquially known as Bolga, located in the Upper East Region of north Ghana.
Sep-2020. Ghana's National Democratic Congress leader John Dramani Mahama listed construction of a new airport at Bolgatanga among the party's Dec-2020 election promises. Feasibility studies are underway for the airport, along with 10 other airport developments, under a total investment of GHS24.7 million (USD4.3 million) by Ghana's Ministry of Aviation.
May-2017. Ghana's Minister of Aviation Cecilia Abena Dapaah stated the government plans to construct an airstrip and "subsequently an airport" at Bolgatanga, as it looks to boost local companies and tourism in the area. The government is currently assessing a proposed site in Sherigu, Minister Dapaah said, with a proposed runway length of 120m.
Sep-2014. President John Dramani Mahama confirmed that the Ghanaian Government plans to build a new airport at Bolgatanga.
