Arkhyz Airport is an airport development project which will serve the city of Arkhyz, Russia.
Jun-2025. Airports of Regions signed memorandums of cooperation with VEB.RF, the Omsk Region and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic to facilitate the construction of the new Arkhyz Airport using a project financing factory mechanism - which will be operated by VEB.RF under Russia's Ministry of Economic Development. The project is expected to require investments of RUB36.5 billion (EUR404.20 million).
Apr-2025. Karachay-Cherkess Republic expects to complete the design of new Arkhyz Airport by the end of 2025. Construction is expected to commence in 2026 and opening is scheduled for 2028, with the airport to commence operations in 2029.

29-Jan-2025. Arkhyz Airport construction is expected to commence in 2026 and be completed at the end of 2028. The airport is expected to commence operations in the beginning of 2029. The airport will feature a 3000m runway, 10 aircraft apron and 25,000sqm terminal. The airport will be able to handle 1000 passengers per hour and increase capacity to two million passengers p/a within five years since launching operations.
28-Jan-2025. Russia's Government will provide Karachay-Cherkessia with RUB12 billion (EUR117.36 million) to support Arkhyz Airport construction. The funds will be provided in tranches from 2026 to 2029. Airport construction will also be financed by Airports of Regions, which signed a concession agreement in Jul-2024.
03-Jan-2025. Russia's Government reportedly instructed VEB.RF to support the construction of six new airports. VEB.RF State Development chairman Igor Shuvalov said nine airports are being built within the framework of the Project Finance Factory, with applications now submitted for the construction of an additional six, with the total investment reaching RUB376 billion (EUR3.37 billion)". Mr Shuvalov noted the construction involves new airports including Arkhyz Airport.
