Established in 2010, Transport Malta is the combined transport authority that overseas the functions of preceding transport agencies - Malta Transport Authority, Malta Maritime Authority and the Directorate of Civil Aviation. Under the Aircraft Registration Act, the Civil Aviation Directorate is charged with the receivership, review and processing of aircraft registration applications, the enforcement of airworthiness directives and civil aviation regulations and the provision of operational safety and standards of Maltese air service operators.
