Headquartered in Rome, L'Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile (ENAC) is a government body that regulates the aviation sector and oversees the application of its policies in Italy. The civil aviation authority was established in 1997, following the introduction of the Legislative Decree no. 250/97. According to the decree, ENAC's functions include the provision of air navigation and technical services, airport development and operations as well as regulating and enforcing flight safety, the charter of passenger rights and environment policies within the scope of aviation.
